The
UNDER VEHICLE SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM
(UVSS)
is uniquely
designed to use human nature as an effective force in
aligning vehicles over the
UNDER VEHICLE SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM
(UVSS), to capture and read license plates
effectively.
All of us, at one time, or another
has driven over or around speed bumps that span
streets or driveways. If the speed bump tapers 2-3 ft. from
a curb you will notice drivers moving their vehicles to the
right to lesson the speed bumps impact on their vehicle.
Also while driving, we try to miss objects in the center of
the road by driving over them.
This human nature aspect is the driving force in creating
our 48 speed bump. Drivers will automatically drive over
the speed bump, because of its size, to miss it, and at the
same time align their vehicle in the cameras view exposing
their license plate to the camera concealed within the speed
bump.
UNDER VEHICLE SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM
(UVSS)
placement suggestions:
Installations in Parking Garages, Drive-thru, Toll Plazas
and/or (2) Lane Driveways require less installation thought
because, entrances and exits are controlled by pavement or
curbs, and lanes are narrower in many instances than normal
streets. In these circumstances the
UNDER VEHICLE SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM
(UVSS) should
be
mounted
directly in the center of the vehicle lane.
For installations where driveways or traffic lanes are wider
and longer than controlled ones, speed bump placement will
require an understanding of traffic patterns, prior to speed
bump placement. In these installations small 3 Dot Bumps
may need to be used to define traffic lanes or wanted
direction of vehicle travel.
Please consider the following:
-
Is the center of the driveway or traffic lane clearly
marked? If not, the lanes have not been clearly
identified and the vehicle driver may use the entire
space to enter or leave the driveway or traffic lane.
The use of a dual line of 3 Dot Bumps mounted 30 apart
will define the center of a driveway and set driver
perimeters.
-
How
long is the driveway or traffic lane and is it
directional at the end? When selecting a placement
for the
UNDER VEHICLE SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM
(UVSS),
for these applications a determination must be made,
considering the following:
-
The entrance arch of a vehicle when entering or leaving;
-
The distance the vehicle takes to straighten it self
out in the driveway or traffic lane and;
-
Whether the vehicle will turn left or right when the
lane ends;
-
Lanes which follow to the right as directional traffic
patterns will more than likely require speed bump
mounting to the right rather centered, in the lane for
both right or left hand turns; and
Our suggestion is take time and evaluate your own
traffic patterns prior to installation.
Mounting the UNDER VEHICLE
SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS (UVSS)
Supplied with the
UNDER VEHICLE SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM
(UVSS),
are (3) 3/8 X 5 Lag Bolts, and (3) ½ X 2 Lead
pavement holders. These will be used to hold the UVSS
to the pavement surface.
Cement or Concrete Pavement
The
UNDER VEHICLE SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM
(UVSS) can be mounted with the
supplied Lag Bolts and Lead Pavement holders directly to the
pavement after a wiring channel has been positioned and
cut. This wiring channel can be re-cemented after wiring
has been installed to the Speed Bumps location.
Asphalt Pavement
We suggest that a cement pad be poured for the mounting of
the
UNDER VEHICLE SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM
(UVSS) system in an asphalt
surface.
Mounting Steps:
-
After marking the installation position of the UVSS on the asphalt surface use a pavement cutting saw
to cut out the pavement 1 1/2 inside the marked
rectangle. This cutting offset will protect asphalt
edge when UVSS is mounted over cement base.
-
Breakout out existing pavement until gravel sub-base is
exposed. Preferable depth desired 3 ½.
-
Cut wiring trench to center of cut out area. Install
conduit and a plastic wiring box in center of cutout.
Install wiring.
-
Fill cutout with
cement making sure that wiring box is flush with
surface. Smooth surface and let dry.
-
When dry, re-position UVSS in desired location.
There are (3) 3/8 mounting holes located on the top of
the UVSS. Use a 3/8 Cement Drill to drill down
through the holes to mark the surface.
-
Remove the UVSS and drill previously marked
surface with a ½ Cement Drill to a depth of 4.
-
Install the ½ X 2 directional lead pavement holders to
a depth of ½ from the pavement surface.
-
Connect wiring to cameras
and use provided Shrink Tubing to seal all connectors.
-
Re-place the UVSS and insert
3/8" x 5" mounting lag bolts, tighten to secure
UVSS to the pavement.
Installation is now complete. Camera angles are set to read
license plates from
UNDER VEHICLE SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM
(UVSS).
Camera Wiring

Camera required voltage is 12VDC.
